This limited edition of Pitch Black is packaged in a 4K transfer that has been scanned from a new 2K interpositive scanned from an original camera negative. The restoration has been supervised by Robert Elswit, and also supervised by Jack Patrick Newfield. To create the new 4K digital master, a complete 2K scan was made of the original camera negative, then the 4K scan was performed. The restored image is the result of years of careful work and of collaboration with a small group of filmmakers, including director of photography Robert Elswit, who supervised the restoration. A new Blu-ray presentation of the film is paired with a new Blu-ray disc.
Criterion's upcoming 4K restoration of Pitch Black is a wondrous visual treat, imbuing every frame with sharp detail and crisp, vibrant color. In his new Blu-ray debut, cinematographer Robert Elswit, who also oversaw the restoration of Blade Runner, makes a bold choice in shooting the film in natural lighting - and the results are a startling revelation. Riddick (Vin Diesel) was always meant to be seen. And in this terrific Blu-ray debut, audiences will experience Diesel and director David Twohy's vision of the character for the first time, in full Technicolor glory. Exclusive bonus content includes interviews with the filmmaker and star, a commentary by director of photography Robert Elswit, and a feature-length documentary, Inside the Darkness: The Making of Pitch Black.
Kicking us off is the classic Bill Brewster and Frank Broughton factual which tracks the rise of the DJ from jukebox jockeys in 1906 to the massive cultural phenomenon it is today. The book discusses a comprehensive history of DJing across all genres from Northern Soul to soundsystem culture in Jamaica to Detroit techno and everything in between. Unmissable. Max Penny-Barrow
The book is packed with statistics, facts and figures, essential reading for anyone interested in the history of dance culture. DJ Culture is yet another must read for any DJ or dance music fan.
The book moves on to a discussion of how the DJ has changed over the past 90 years. This is followed by 90 Years of Disco, which not only discusses the history of disco but also how it changed the way we listen to music and experience dance music culture. 827ec27edc
