This tutorial will show you the process of migrating a printer and the Printer Administrator account to a new printer. A colleague of mine was tasked with upgrading a network that had Windows XP Pro from 2003 and had many printers. One of the large printing companies also purchased Windows XP Home after Microsoft stopped supporting it in 2014, requiring a complete migration.
He used the printer wizard to move all the printers onto our new Windows 7 Pro installation and everything worked when he connected the printers to a small network. He then had to make changes to the Admin account for the printers so that we could configure them in the new environment. This is probably a big annoyance for most people but the good news is that my colleague wrote a batch file that uses a fairly basic script to make this happen. I thought I would post here so that this information could help others with the same task.
This batch file will move printers and make changes to the printers' Administrator accounts. To run this batch file from a network, you need an IP address you can use to connect to the computer that will be making changes. You need to add this computer to your new network and then run this batch file from the computer that was used to make the initial connection. d2c66b5586
